It’s been a few weeks since Fantasia’s reported suicide attempt and Ms. Barrino is already back to work making the rounds to TV and radio to promote her new CD. She just taped a brand new VH1 Behund the Music episode, is already back taping for her reality show and just did Good Morning America where she spoke candidly about her troubles and the incident. Allegedly, it was her turbulant relationship with a married man and his estranged wife’s law suit that was the breaking point for Fantasia.
I am certainly not suggesting anything or saying anything negative towards Fantasia… I’ve met her on a few occasions and she is a sweetheart… but I think now a days the potential of what entertainers might do for publicity and to boost record sales and maintain a certain income is unpredictable. Fantasia’s single “Bitter Sweet” has been doing well on radio but I just have not felt a major buzz around her new project that I thought would be there. So this leaves me to question… was the incident genuine or could this have been a pre meditated event to drum up publicity? What do you think?
Tiger Woods’ ex-wife Elin Nordegren said she has “been through hell” since her husband’s cheating scandal surfaced but she never hit him, according to an exclusive People magazine interview released Wednesday.
Nordegren said she and Woods spent months trying to reconcile the relationship, but in the end, a marriage “without trust and love” wasn’t good for anyone. The couple’s divorce became final on Monday.
The former model and nanny spoke about Tiger’s Thanksgiving night car crash outside their Florida home, when Woods drove his SUV over a fire hydrant and into a tree just days after the National Enquirer had revealed the first of many women who claimed to have dated Tiger during his marriage.
The account of Elin smashing out the back window of the SUV with a golf club to try and free Tiger was met with widespread doubt, with late night comedians and “Saturday Night Live” joking that Nordegren’s golf swing was really aimed at Tiger for the affairs.
Nordegren told People that she never hit Woods on the night of the car crash, nor any other time.
“There was never any violence inside or outside our home,” she said. “The speculation that I would have used a golf club to hit him is just truly ridiculous.”
Nordegren said Woods left the house that night and when he didn’t return after a while, she got worried and went to look for him. She said that’s when she found him in the car.
“I did everything I could to get him out of the locked car,” she said. “To think anything else is absolutely wrong.”
People said the interview was conducted over four visits lasting a total of 19 hours at the rented Windermere, Fla., home where she now lives with their two children.
“I’ve been through hell,” she said. “It’s hard to think you have this life, and then all of a sudden — was it a lie? You’re struggling because it wasn’t real. But I survived. It was hard, but it didn’t kill me.”
In an interview on NBC’s “Today” show on Wednesday morning, People magazine reporter Sandra Sobieraj Westfall said Nordegren and her team approached the magazine. Westfall said Nordegren wanted people to know three things: she’s not violent and never hit Woods; she had no idea this was going on; and it was a real marriage for her. [Watch Westfall's "Today" interview below.]
Nordegren and Woods were married Oct. 5, 2004, in Barbados and have a 3-year-old daughter, Sam, and an 18-month-old son, Charlie.
In the interview, Nordegren would not disclose the amount of the divorce settlement but did say “money can’t buy happiness or put my family back together.”
“I’m so embarrassed that I never suspected — not a one. For the past 3 1/2 years, when all this was going on, I was home a lot more with pregnancies, then the children and my school.”
Woods, who is playing in golf tournament in New Jersey this week, has not yet commented on the couple’s divorce.
Nordegren said she would eventually come to forgive Woods but that she is still working on it.
“Forgiveness takes time,” she said. “It is the last step of the grieving process.”
In the meantime, the Swedish-born Nordegren said she is excited to start the next chapter of her life and intends to stay in the U.S. with her children.
She also said she’s “not watched one minute of golf.”

R&B singer Brandy has been sued for $6 million by Canadian DJ Marc Mysterio (presumably not his real name), after he claims she didn’t deliver on a promise to write and sing “32 bars of music,” according to a report.
The lawsuit, filed on Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claims that Brandy accepted a check for $10,000 from the DJ in July, but never delivered the music, according to celebrity site TMZ.
Mysterio claims he’s lost more than $25,000 from Brandy’s inaction, says the site.

Well… Fantasia has sure been getting a lot of media attention. First there was here alleged attempted suicide, then rumors that the whole ordeal was just for publicity for her new album coming out next week and now on top of charges from her boyfriends estranged wife (in North Carolina a wife can actually sue the other woman) a song has leaked where Fantasia is singing very proudly about being the side chick. The song was written by Kandi from Housewives of Atlanta (who also wrote TLC’s “No Scrubs” and a ton of other hits) and the lyrics are very interesting. I know it’s already been out there for a couple days but I have to admit aside from the real life circumstances surrounding the song, this is actually a hot record.
D.L. Hughley’s New York radio show has officially ended, seven months after filing suit against network brass over a pay dispute.
The comedian launched his weekday morning show on New York’s WRKS, 98.7 KISS-FM on July 20 of last year. In January, he partnered with executives at WRKS’ parent company, Emmis Broadcasting, and sued the syndication company URBan Radio, the owners of the D.L. Hughley Morning Show. Hughley claims URBan Radio owes him an estimated $359,000.
URBan Radio Communications fired back with a countersuit against Emmis as talks broke down about who was responsible for paying the actor.
The star continued his show despite the pending litigation – but he has now decided to step down from the job. Hughley handed in his two-week notice at the end of last month, reports BVBuzz.com.
Jay-Z rules Forbes magazine’s latest edition of its “Hip-Hop Cash Kings” list, which ranks the estimated earnings of hip-hop’s biggest stars over the past year.
The rapper dominated the competition with $63 million earned over the last 12 months, according to the list released Tuesday (Aug. 17).
Sean “Diddy” Combs came in second with a gross of $30 million, while Akon racked up $21 million this year to earn third place.
The top 20 artists on the “Cash Kings” list accumulated about $300 million in earnings, which is an average of $15 million per person and a comparable figure to last year’s list.
Forbes attributes Jay-Z’s fortune to the September release of “The Blueprint 3″ and his subsequent world tour, as well as non-musical endeavors like his 40/40 nightclub chain and stake in the NBA’s New Jersey Nets.
Diddy’s Diageo vodka Ciroc, his Diddybeats earbud headphones and TV/film roles helped him land at No. 2 despite not releasing a new album or prominently touring last year.
Akon’s Konvict Clothing label and Kon Live imprint (which houses Lady Gaga, among other artists) helped him thrive this year.
Meanwhile, Drake ranked as the list’s biggest newcomer with $9 million earned, good enough for a No. 11 rank.
Kanye West, on the other hand, took a relative tumble from $25 million last year to $12 million this year while taking a break from touring. 50 Cent, who topped the 2008 list with $150 million thanks to his VitaminWater windfall, clocked in at $8 million this year due to a heavier concentration on film projects.
According to Forbes, Jay-Z earned more than frequent collaborators Lil’ Wayne, Drake and Kanye West combined this year. However, the rapper’s $63 million gross does not make him the main bread-winner in his household — his wife, Beyoncé, earned $87 million this year, according to the magazine’s Top-Earning Musicians list.
